More Than A Professional Requirement
Those of us who are counsellors and psychotherapist all accept clinical supervision and EMDR Consultancy is a professional requirement; and it’s more than that, it’s time out, somewhere to reflect on how you are coping and your client’s progression. It’s a time for professional collaboration, challenge, change and encouragement, which in turn promotes personal and professional development, selfcare and ethical practice.
You’re Independent In Your Counselling Room, But You’re Not Alone
I strive to provide a Supervision and Consultancy service that gives you time and space to safely explore your feelings, thoughts, fears and questions. None of which are too small, silly or insignificant; they are signals indicating that it’s time to seek clarification. Even experienced practitioners have questions or times when they feel deskilled or off balance. It’s times like these when supervision can rejuvenate, inspire and prepare you to return to your practice and continue the life changing work you do.
Counselling or psychotherapy can be an isolating profession, especially for those who are self-employed. There is no doubt that delivering these services is rewarding, and there is no better feeling than a client being discharged because they are ready to live life without our support. For a profession that’s all about connection it can leave practitioners feeling unsupported and out on a limb. Supervision provides a safe and confidential place for practitioners to be open and honest; to share their hopes and fears; to have a person to turn to when the going gets tough; or to celebrate with. These conversations cannot take place in day-to-day interactions because of the professional boundaries and confidentiality that surrounds our work.
Supervision For The Helping Professions
People who work in the helping professions where confidentiality is essential and/or they witness or hear harrowing accounts while doing their job or volunteer work, benefit from seeking this style of clinical supervision. Clinical supervision is not about managing workloads, its about supporting and coaching workers and volunteers; mitigating against stress related ill health; and helping people become the best they can be.
Tailoring Supervision To Meet Your Needs
This is your supervision or EMDR consultation, therefore, you are in full control of what you wish to disclose. Before you arrive, please consider what you would like to explore and share. I’m interested to discover what you need and here to help you fulfil those needs.
You can choose one-to-one supervision, or you may prefer to attend with one or more colleagues and share the learning.
It may be advantageous to receive onsite supervision within your organisation. If this is the case, it can be arranged (travel expenses are not included in the supervision fee).
Making An Appointment
Appointments are at 82 King Street, Manchester, M2 4WQ. From experience Supervision and/or EMDR Consultancy works best when people come to the office. Practitioners report that during their journey to and from their session they have time and space to reflect on their past and focus on their future.
There are occasions when you may need telephone or Skype appointments. These appointments are intended to be used by people who are unable to travel into Manchester.
