Counselling PDF Print E-mail

Not everyone who seeks the help of a counsellor is ‘ill’ and it’s not always obvious when something is wrong.  You may have noticed you don’t feel much of anything; no excitement; ambition or energy and if you resonate with the above you are potentially in a fur lined rut, and it’s time to get out.

The process of talking to a professional counsellor about your life, relationships, fears, worries, hopes and dreams can be enriching, validating and rewarding.  It can make the difference between disappointment and success, and lead to profound improvements to relationships, self esteem, motivation, and confidence.

Many people find themselves in uncomfortable situations and don’t always know how they got there or how to change. Psychological problems are not signs of weakness, actually it’s often the opposite, being strong for too long can lead to stress related ill health.

What prevents people asking for help?

When people know they are feeling worse and their world is getting smaller, somewhere inside they know counselling will help.  However, fear, distrust, lack of support, or even a sense of shame can stop them making an appointment.  This protracted period of suffering - often in silence - and failed attempts to solve the problem alone can worsen the symptoms and lead to debilitation, isolation and lifelong misery.  Very often this is time spent needlessly suffering.

If this seems like you don’t have to suffer a moment longer, you can access counselling by calling me, on 0161 710 2468 for counselling in Manchester or 01254 368910 for appointments in Blackburn or click this link This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
